I wanted to do something 'special' for my kids for halloween, so I decided to try my hand at making candy apples. It was a relatively easy task once I got the caramel to the right consistency. I even rolled them in nuts AND red hots for extra flavor! This is a picture of what we came home to after trick-or-treating. All of the caramel and toppings slid off the apples, because....what part of "refrigerate immediately" did I NOT understand?
