Am I the only person in the country who does not watch American Idol regularly? I have seen three songs performed this whole season, two of the songs by Chris Sligh. Sligh has been criticized by some so-called Christians for his selection of rock and roll songs for the show. But Chris Surratt, the pastor of Seacoast Church where Sligh has been music leader for more than two years, has got his back:
"He's not going to back away from the fact that he's a Christian. He's going to let that shine through in what he does."

I think it's funny. He's done like 5 songs now I think? The first was by Mute Math...a openly positive song by a band of Christians. The second was dcTalk's "We All Wanna Be Loved"; no comment needed. Third was a song to his wife, and I don't see how anyone could fault him for that. The last two were songs he had to choose for the theme of the week. You won't find "Christian songs" (what are those anyway?) from Diana Ross or Brit Rock. That's ridiculous. These people who are criticizing are the ones who are warming their pew every week and refusing to give up that spot to a visitor if needed. The rest of that article even has quotes from people at Bob Jones U. who would be against most any form of music practically. ::sigh::
I only watch the first couple of weeks of American Idol. The tryouts are usually a riot. After that, I'm not interested.
